Status: Native
Description:
Slender annual herb, up to 30 cm tall. Leaves alternate, almost circular to cordate, kidney-shaped, up to 2.7 × 3 cm, hairless, thinly textured and transparent, light green above, somewhat blue-green below, palmately 5-7-veined, margin entire; petiole 4-16 mm long. Inflorescence in terminal or leaf-opposed laxly flowered spikes, greenish.
Notes: Peperomia exigua was at one time treated as a depauperate form of P. pellucida. However, on the basis of differences in the leaf shape and geographical distribution, Mathieu, G. & R. Callejas Posada (2006) show that P. exigua consistently differs from P. pellucida and thereby treat it as a separate species.

P. pellucida s.s. has never been recorded from Zimbabwe or Mozambique.
