Description:	Epiphytic plants with a robust stem. Leaves leathery, folded along their length. Inflorescences singly in the leaf axils. Flowers in 2 alternate ranks, star-shaped, creamy-white, turning apricot with age. Spur 2-3 cm.
Notes:	Subsp. zuluensis occurs in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
Derivation of specific name:	praetermissa: omitted, neglected, referring to the fact that this common and widespread species was only first described in 1948.
Habitat:	In Brachystegia woodland, particularly on hill sides.
Altitude range:	650 - 650 m
Flowering time:	Dec - Jan
Worldwide distribution:	Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, East Africa and southwards to South Africa
Mozambique distribution:	Z,MS
Growth form(s):	Epiphyte.
