Description:
Terrestrial herb. Pseudobulbs conical. Leaves 2-5, lanceolate to ovate, strongly ribbed, thinly textured. Inflorescence lax. Flowers yellow-green to yellow, turning orange with age.
Notes: No records from Mozambique are cited for this species in Flora Zambesiaca Vol. 11 part 1 (La Croix & Cribb, 1995), it was listed as Liparis neglecta in Schelpe's Provisional Checklist for Mozambique (Journal of South african Botany 42-4: 391, 1976)
Derivation of specific name: bowkeri: after J.H. Bowker (1822-1900), South African Naturalist who sent a living plant to Kew Botanic Gardens in England.
Habitat: In Brachystegia woodland, riverine and evergreen forest, growing in leaflitter, occasionally lithophytic or epiphytic on tree trunks or dead logs.
Altitude range: 1100 - 2200 m
Flowering time:Jan - Feb
Worldwide distribution: Burundi, DRC, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
