Description:	Scrambling shrub or climber up to 2.5 m. Stems whitish with short hard spines; cladodes (leaf-like modified branchlets) in clusters of up to 60, 2.5-3.5 cm long; flowers white, on the outside of cladode clusters; fruits red.

Derivation of specific name:	laricinus: with leaves like the larch (Larix)
Habitat:	In scrub at the edges of forest, woodland or grassland.
