Description: |
Small to medium-sized tree. Leaves linear, mostly concentrated in terminal rosettes. Flowers in terminal spikes or branched panicles, cream, opening at night, sweetly scented. Fruit berry-like, bright red when ripe. |

Derivation of specific name: | mannii: after Gustav Mann (1836-1916), British colonial representative in the Gulf of Guinea, who collected plants in that area. |
Habitat: | At the margins and in the understorey of evergreen forest. |
