Description:	Tufted perennial herb. Stems 30-60 cm high, hairless except for hairs below the capitulum. Leaves broadly linear, 10-35 cm long, softly and thinly hairy when young. Capitula hemispherical when young, becoming depressed spherical, 10-14 mm in diameter, densely white-hairy with black sepals. Involucral bracts shiny brown on the inside, c. 3mm long.
