Description: |
Prostrate or rarely twining perennial with thick, often angular stems. Leaves subcircular to kidney-shaped, 3.5-7cm long and up to 8.5 cm wide, leathery, hairless, rounded at the apex, cordate at the base; margin entire; petiole 3-8.5 cm long, thick and deeply grooved along the length. Inflorescences axillary, 1-few-flowered, often together with an axillary shoot; peduncle 2-5 cm long; bracts very small, ovate; pedicels 1-3.5 cm long. Sepals elliptic-oblong; inner ones 8-11 mm long; outer ones 5-8 mm long. Corolla funnel-shaped, reddish purple-pink, c. 6.5 cm long, hairless. Capsule globose, hairless. |
Notes: | This species is very similar to Ipomoea pes-caprae but clearly differing in the leafbase being cordate and the apex not bilobed. |
