Description: |
Tufted perennial, the basal leaf sheaths ± silky pubescent. Culms 60–300 cm. high, the nodes bearded or not. Panicle 18–70 cm. long, narrowly oblong to ovate, the branches spreading and conspicuously whorled. Spikelets 6–13 mm. long, glabrous or tuberculate setose. Inferior glume obtuse; superior glume and inferior lemma obtuse to subacute. Superior lemma bidentate with teeth 0.7–1 mm. long; awn 2–4 cm. long; stamens 2; callus 0.5–1 mm. long, truncate or slightly emarginate. |
