Panicle 6–12(16) cm. long, ovate, moderately to much branched, usually dense and compact. Spikelets 2.3–3.2 mm. long, ovate; inferior glume 1/3–2/3 the length of the spikelet, broadly ovate, 1-nerved, straight or recurved acuminate; superior glume ovate, 7-nerved, recurved acute or acuminate; inferior lemma ovate, 7-nerved, acute, its palea well developed, enclosing a male flower; superior lemma glossy |
