Robust, often hispid tufted perennial with culms 100–200 cm. high. Leaf laminae 20–35 cm. long and 7–15 mm. wide, flat, acuminate. Panicle (20)25–35 cm. long, elliptic-oblong, moderately to much branched, the branches ascending. Spikelets (2)2.5–3 mm. long, ovate-elliptic, sharply acute; inferior glume 1/4–1/3 the length of the spikelet, ovate 1(3)-nerved; superior glume 9-nerved; inferior lemma similar to the superior glume, male. |
