Delicate annual or short-lived perennial up to 75 cm tall, erect or geniculately ascending; ligule a short membrane; leaf lamina 4–10 cm × 7–15 mm, lanceolate-oblong, broad, flat, thin and flaccid, smooth on both sides, acute. Inflorescence 5–30 cm long, oblong to narrowly oblong; racemes numerous, very slender, 4–6 cm long, ascending, straight or slightly arching.Spikelets laterally compressed, 1-flowered, 1.8–2 mm long, narrowly fusiform, overlapping; glumes subequal, as long as the spikelet, broadly linear, sharply acuminate; lemma 1.4–1.6 mm long, narrowly elliptic, keeled, minutely pilose on the nerves, entire, acute.Caryopsis 1–1.2 mm long, narrowly elliptic, trigonous in section, deeply sulcate on the hilar side |
