Description:

Stems slender, filiform, 0.5-1 mm in diameter; leaves 6.5-15.5 × 0.4-1.2 mm, regularly whorled, occasionally subwhorled, linear, thin, transparent. Epidermal cells elongate, rectangular; each margin with 26-58 teeth on triangular protuberances, pointing upwards, sharp; central area mostly bordered by 2 parallel fibre lines (suggesting tramway rails), without transverse septa. Male inflorescence a spathe with 10-20 flower buds; male perianth whitish. Female inflorescence with narrowly ovate spathe valves; female flower with whitish perianth. Capsule narrowly ovoid, tapered above.
