Description:	Annual or short-lived perennial herb with single, procumbent or suberect stems. Leaves opposite, linear-lanceolate to elliptic. Flowers on long peduncles in axillary few-flowered inflorescences, white, pale blue or mauve with soft hairs on the throat and corolla.
Type location:	South Africa
Notes:
Derivation of specific name:	pentandrus: with five stamens.
Habitat:	In association with grasses and sedges on riverbanks, margins of vleis and swamps, and along pools and dams.
