General description see A. aethiopicum . For subsp. aethiopicum fronds up to 60 cm long, 2-pinnate to 3-pinnatifid, pinnae trullate with usually more than 3 free pinnules, subcoriaveous; mean spore size 38-44µm
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: aethiopicum: Africa south of Libya and Egypt
Habitat: Moist or seasonally moist forest, forest remnants and rocky outcrops. Terrestrial, epiphytic or lithophytic.
Altitude range: 50 - 1800 m
Worldwide distribution: Bioko, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic DRC, Ethiopia, Gabon, Guinea, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tomé, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Eswatini, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe
