Description of the genus

Subshrubs or shrubs, with usually decumbent stems. Leaves ericoid. Inflorescences spike-like, composed of numerous solitary or paired axillary flowers along upper part of branches. Calyx tube glabrous; lobed above. Petals 8, fleshy, reddish. Stamens as many as the calyx lobes.

Worldwide: 30 species in tropical and South Africa

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
