Monoecious, evergreen trees and shrubs. Mature leaves scale-like, appressed, decussate or alternate; juvenile subulate and ± spirally arranged. Male cones small, solitary, terminal; scales in c. 6 pairs with 4 pollen-sacs at the base.
Female cones ovoid to oblong, with 4(-6) dry and woody scales. Seeds winged. Derivation of name: Named after Captain Widdrington, a botanical explorer Worldwide: 3 species in tropical and South Africa Mozambique: 1 taxon. |
