Dioecious tree. Indumentum simple. Leaves opposite, decussate, simple, entire. Stipules large, intrapetiolar, connate at first into a sheath enclosing the terminal bud. Flowers axillary; males in 3s, pendent; female solitary. Male flowers: sepals 2-5; petals 0; disk 0; stamens numerous; pistillode 0. Female flowers: sepals 5-6; stigmas 3, reflexed. Fruit 3-lobed, dehiscent. Seeds 6, laterally flattened, shiny. Worldwide: 1 species in SE tropical Africa Mozambique: 1 taxon. |
