Trailing or climbing perennial herbs (in ours). Leaves pinnately 3-foliolate; leaflets usually lobed with long appressed hairs beneath. Inflorescences long, consisting of dense axillary false-racemes, the whole borne on a long stalk. Calyx 5-lobed, the lobes not gland-tipped, the upper pair joined for up to half their length. Standard elliptic, auriculate, without appendages. Stigma not penicillate. Style filiform and hairy in the basal part, virtually glabrous in the upper third. Pods oblong, flattened, 1-2-seeded, dehiscent, densely covered with stiff spreading bristly hairs. Worldwide: 4 species in tropical Africa Mozambique: 1 taxon. |
