Description of the genus

Shrub or small tree. Leaves opposite or alternate. Inflorescences of axillary, tomentose racemes or panicles. Flowers minute. Male flowers: perianth with 4-6 lobes; stamens free. Female flowers: perianth with 3-5 lobes; ovary of 1 carpel. Fruit fleshy, crowned by the persistent stigma.

Worldwide: 1 species in tropical and South Africa

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
