Description of the genus

Lianes with dense indumentum. Leaves 3-5-lobed, not peltate. Male inflorescences of elongate axillary panicles with lateral axils bearing 3-7-flowered clusters. Male flowers: sepals 6; outer 3 elongate, elliptic; inner obovate; petals 6, margins incurved and enveloping the 6 stamens. Female inflorescences of axillary racemes. Female flowers: sepals and petals like the male; staminodes 6; carpels 3. Fruits ovoid, bristly.

Worldwide: 2 species in tropical Africa

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
