Description of the genus

Annual, biennial or perennial herbs, often straggling or with prostrate stems. Leaves spirally arranged, occasionally subopposite. Flowers in axillary and terminal clusters. Petals almost as long as the sepals. Stamens 5. Ovary 1-locular. Stigmas (2-)3, subsessile.

Worldwide: 11 species, cosmopolitan

Mozambique: 2 taxa.
