Annual or perennial herbs or soft wooded shrubs. Leaves opposite. Inflorescence thyrsoid, usually laxt. Flowers pedicelate. Corolla two-lipped with lips equal in length; tube s-shaped, expanding towards throat; posterior lip 4-lobed erect or ascending; anterior lobe horizontal, boar-shaped, sometimes frilled at apex. Stamens 4; filaments not fused together, held within the anterior lip. Style bifid with lobes subulate. Nutlets ovoid. Derivation of name: With equal labia, referring to the corolla lips being of the same length. Mozambique: 9 taxa. |
