Grandidiera Jaub.

Description of the genus

Tree with lencicellate branches. Leaves alternate, simple, hairless; margin entire. Flowers axillary in 1-few-flowered racemes. Distinguished by its fruit bearing 4-8 papery wings.

Derivation of name: After Alfred Grandidier (1836-1921), French naturalist and explorer who travelled to the Americas, Zanzibar, India and particularly Madagascar.

Worldwide: A single species in Kenya, Tanzania and Mozambique.

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
