Pycnocoma Benth.

Description of the genus

Shrubs or small trees, usually sparingly branched. Indumentum of simple hairs. Leaves alternate or pseudo-verticillate. inflorescences racemose, axillary, bisexual.

Derivation of name: pycno- "dense" and -coma, a tuft of leaves, usually on top of an inflorescence, here referring to the tufted leaves at the ends of branches.

Comment: Closely related to Argomuellera.

Worldwide: 17 species from Tropical Africa and 1 from Madagascar.

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
