Description of the genus

Small or large trees, more or less stellate-pubescent at least on the young parts. Leaves petiolate, simple; stipules caducous, small. Flowers solitary or axillary, in pedunculate, few-flowered cymes; pedicels articulated. Sepals 5, valvate; petals 5, often somewhat twisted. Fruit a capsule obconic, truncate and excavated at the apex, with 5 rather thick wings, dehiscent into 5 valves, with 1–2 seeds per loculus. Seeds with a unilateral wing.

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
