Trees, trunk usually buttressed. Leaves alternate, lamina simple or palmately compound, abaxially usually scally. Inflorescence cymose, paniculate, axillary, may-flowered, scaly or hairy. Flowers small; calyx campanulate or urceolate, 4-6 lobed; petals absent. Fruit woody or leathery with keel-like prominence or wing, indehiscent. Seeds without endosperm. Worldwide: Species 35 in tropical Africa, Asia and Australasia. Mozambique: 1 taxon. |
