Description of the genus

Shrubs, small trees or climbing shrubs; branchlets black. Leaves bases of petioles prominent; blades oblong, acuminate at apex, dark green, sometimes glossy above. Flowers solitary or paired, terminal or axillary, stalked; bracteole small. Sepals 3, free, persistent in fruit. Petals 6, in 2 whorls, inner slightly shorter than outer and remain closed for a long period.

Worldwide: 1 species from tropical East Africa and Mozambique.

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
