Description of the genus

Trees or shrubs. Leaves paripinnate (rarely imparipinnate) sessile or petiolate. Inflorescence a paniculate thyrse. Flowers spuriously polygamous. Sepals 5, 2 exterior ones smaller. Petals (4)5, each with a scale. Disk annular, sometimes lobed. Stamens 8, inserted within the lobes of the disk; ovary 3-locular, 3-lobed; loculi 1-ovulate. Fruits 2–3-winged. Seeds without arillodes.

Derivation of name: Species 14, in Australia and New Guinea and 3 species in southern Africa.

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
