Baptorhachis Clayton & Renvoize

Description of the genus

Inflorescence a solitary raceme with broad colourful foliaceous rhachis, bearing paired spikelets. Spikelets elliptic-oblong. Inferior glume suppressed. Superior glume and inferior lemma as long as spikelet, 3-nerved, the laterals thickened and bearing a dense tuft of hair near the base, bilobed with an awn from the sinus. Superior lemma cartilaginous with flat thin margins enfolding and concealing palea, acute.

Worldwide: Species 1, in Mozambique.

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
