Description of the genus

Shrubs, sometimes with scandent branches, or small trees. Leaves opposite, imparipinnate. Inflorescence a terminal raceme or raceme-like panicle. Calyx campanulate, 5-toothed. Corolla orange to scarlet; tube narrowly funnel-shaped, ± cylindric, curved; limb 2-lipped. Stamens exserted. Ovary 2-locular; ovules numerous. Capsule flattened. Seeds winged.

Worldwide: 1 species (and two subspecies) in southern tropical Africa and South Africa

Mozambique: 2 taxa.
