Description of the genus

Climber, shrub or small tree. Leaves dentate to pinnatifid, sometimes succulent. Capitula discoid, calyculate, borne in paniculate-corymbose inflorescences. Florets yellow. Receptacle without scales. Style arm apices truncate, with a central tuft of fused papillae. Ovary cell walls with compound drusiform crystals. Achenes ribbed. Pappus of many fine bristles.

Worldwide: c. 16 species in tropical Africa, Madagascar and Yemen.

Mozambique: 2 taxa.
