Description of the genus

Trees or shrubs. Leaves yellow-green, glabrous, opposite, petiolate. Inflorescences axillary (usually supra-axillary), consisting of short compact cymes, borne on a stout, flattened peduncle. Calyx tube truncate or with 5 short teeth. Corolla salver-shaped, white, sometimes pink in bud. Ovary 2-locular; ovules 1 per loculus, pendulous from the apex. Fruit subspherical.

Worldwide: 16 species in tropical Africa, Madagascar and the Seychelles

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
