Description of the genus

Shrub or tree. Branching similar to Rothmannia species. Leaves opposite. Inflorescence subtended by a single leaf. Calyx with 5 teeth. Corolla campanulate, hairy; lobes 5, contorted to the left. Ovary 2-locular; each loculus with a pendulous placenta bearing 2-10 ovules. Fruit fleshy, crowned by the persistent calyx.

Worldwide: 1 species in tropical Africa

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
