Unarmed shrub or small tree. Leaves and flowers borne on short lateral shoots. Leaves small, lamina narrowing gradually into the petiole. Flowers bisexual, 5-merous, solitary, subterminal with 1-3 at ends of the lateral shoots. Calyx tube ellipsoid; limb-tube campanulate. Corolla tube funnel-shaped, strongly narrowed at the base; lobes 5 slightly shorter than the tube. Anthers linear. Ovary 2-locular; ovules 5-8. Fruit a small berry, 10-ribbed, crowned by the persistent calyx.
