Description of the genus
Lianes. Inflorescence a raceme. Bracteoles enveloping calyx and corolla tube. Calyx cupular. Corolla slightly 2-lipped. Fertile stamens 4; anthers opening by apical pores. Stigma 2-lobed. Seeds not borne on retinacula.Similar to Thunbergia and differing in the anthers opening by apical pores as opposed to longitudinal slits. Worldwide: 4 species in tropical Africa and Madagascar Mozambique: 1 taxon. |
