Description of the genus

Spiny shrubs or small trees. Leaves short (to 5 cm), clustered on cushions, simple, 1-jugate or imparipinnate. Flowers solitary or in fascicles. Calyx 5-toothed. Corolla campanulate with 5 spreading lobes, yellow. Stamens 5. Ovary 2-locular. Fruit a flattened capsule. Seeds winged.

Worldwide: 7 species in tropical and South Africa and Madagascar

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
