Lianes or perennial herbs. Leaves pinnately 3-fioliolate. Flowers in axillary racemes. Calyx 2-lipped. Corolla white to purple; standard reflexed, glabrous outside. Stamens all joined; the vexillary free below but fused above. Ovary with many ovules. Pods large, usually with longitidinal ribs close to the upper margin. Seeds large
