Description of the genus

Trees, tall, deciduous, indumentum stellate. Leaves large, opposite or whorled, petiolate. Inflorescence panicles, terminal, with many dichotomous cymes; bracts small, narrow, early deciduous; calyx campanulate, tube short, lobes spreading. Fruit enclosed in large persistent calyx, endocarp bony, exocarp thin. Seeds oblong.

Worldwide: Species 3 in tropical Asia.

Mozambique: 1 cultivated taxon.
