Trees or shrubs, many branched from base; juice watery. Leaves 3-whorled; lamina very narrowly elliptic; leathery; mid-vein prominent abaxially. Inflorescence corymbose, terminal. Flowers showy, fragrant; sepals narrowly triangular; corolla red, pink, yellow or white, funnelform, tube cylindric near base; lobes single or double overlapping to right; corona segments 5, petal-like, large, fringed. Fruit paired follicles united until just before dehiscence; cylindric. Seeds numerous, oblong; densely pilose. Worldwide: 1 species cultivated in tropical and temperate regions. Mozambique: 1 cultivated taxon. |
